How Going Green Can Make a Difference in Climate Change

green technology

Environmental technology, green technology or sustainable technology is the application of any one or more of the following environmental sciences, green Chemistry, ecological computer modeling and environmental monitoring, to monitor, control and preserve the environmental quality and resources, and to mitigate the negative consequences of human input.

The technologies include energy, climate change, water quality, land use and biodiversity, industrial and municipal waste, tourism and landscape systems. These have a wide range of applications in numerous sectors such as scientific research, environmental management, education, energy, agriculture, forestry, communication, manufacturing, transport and finance. The key aim of these technologies is to make the world a better place by harnessing the various potentials of the environment.

Impact Of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

There are various green technologies that can reduce the adverse impact of greenhouse gas emissions on the global environment. Green technologies help to protect the Earth’s ecosystems by sequestering carbon dioxide, and by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhance water quality, enhance energy productivity and promote sustainable construction. Some of the methods include energy recovery ventilators, active heating, drought proofing, passive solar heating and others. For instance, the passive form of heating, which does not use an external heating mechanism, requires no ventilation and can thus be considered as an environmentally friendly form of passive electric heating.

Solar Electricity

Solar electricity is considered to be one of the green technologies in action that has recently achieved a lot of momentum. This is because solar power, unlike fossil fuel based electricity, is generated directly from the sun. Hence, no matter the seasons, you can produce electricity for your home. However, the photovoltaic cells used to convert sunlight into usable electricity require periodic, costly maintenance. Solar power does not emit any pollutants into the environment. It also provides a steady, reliable and secure source of electricity.

Green Technology

Green technology aims to address three pressing concerns that affect our environment: climate change, air pollution and carbon emissions. Global warming is one the most prominent environmental issues of the 21st century. The Kyoto Protocol has been able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly, but unfortunately, the efforts are limited to a certain extent.

On the other hand, clean technology seeks to remedy the shortcomings of the latter by utilizing readily available, free and clean resources and materials, while at the same time preventing environmental pollution. A prime example of such an environmentally friendly product is solar energy. Solar panels, unlike fossil fuels or nuclear energy plants, do not release toxic gases into the atmosphere. They do not add to the depletion of the Earth’s natural resources either. Solar panels use a large number of the Earth’s natural resources, so they are highly sustainable.

Global warming

Global warming is one of the most serious environmental issues of our time and the solutions need to be seriously considered. Green technology seeks to prevent global warming by harnessing the suns energy, as well as the other pristine natural resources of the Earth. Solar power can do just that by producing clean electricity that does not contribute to climate change. With the introduction of clean coal technologies, companies have the ability to generate electricity from a natural source that releases no pollutants when burned. This means that we can leave the finite sources of fuel for last and make use of green technology to provide clean energy that contributes to climate change prevention.

In terms of pollution, green technology has made great strides in its fight against harmful air quality. There are many benefits to using turbines to create electricity rather than conventional methods. Turbines do not release pollutants into the atmosphere and do not cause global warming. Turbines are also quieter than other forms of energy production and they have a much longer lifespan than other forms of tech. This means that we are going green with our energy production and we are saving money in the process.

Conclusion

By harnessing the sun’s energy and using it to produce electricity and other renewable resources, we are taking the fight to the ultimate level. Our planet is begging us to go green and to be responsible with the way that we utilize our natural resources. If we do not take action now, there is a real threat that we will find ourselves unable to meet energy demands, particularly in the years and decades to come. We have already seen how fast climate change is advancing and if we don’t begin to implement green technology today, we could find ourselves severely disrupted by climate change in the future.
